Booker T Jones co-wrote "Green Onions" and it became a hit while he was still in high school. Soon after high school, he was accepted by Indiana University and studied composition and music theory. In 2012, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Indiana University School of Music. After receiving the honorary doctorate from Indiana University and speaking at the commencement ceremony, Booker T visited The Stone Age Institute. Rolling Stone magazine ranked "Green Onions" Number 183 in their "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list.
